» What is the maximum speed achieved with the GC75/GC75e?

The GC75/GC75e supports both 4+1 and 3+2 (downlink and uplink) connections in both GPRS and HSCD. Before compression it can therefore receive up to a maximum of 57.6kbps (downlink) and send up to a maximum of 28.8kbps (uplink) in HSCSD compared to 53.6kbps receiving and 26.8kbps sending in GPRS. Since a number of data compression protocols are supported, the perceived data speeds can be increased by up to a further 4 times.

» What do I need to get started with GC75/GC75e ?

You need a laptop computer with a Type II PC card slot, running either Windows® 98, Windows®2000, Windows®ME, Windows®XP or Windows®NT4.0. A valid GPRS/GSM data subscription is also required.

• Distance to GSM base station
• Number of slots used

» What operating systems does the GC75/GC75e support?

The GC75/GC75e card works with:

» Can I connect to my company’s network, as I do now with a standard modem?

Yes, using any circuit-switched data transfer mode it works in the same manner. There are a number of scenarios where GPRS may be used to carry traffic intended for corporate networks. If end-to-end security is desired the laptop must be equipped with VPN client software and the company must have a VPN Server/Gateway. A VPN solution ensures secure encrypted communication from the laptop into the corporate network.
