» What is the maximum speed achieved with the GC75/GC75e?
The GC75/GC75e supports both
4+1 and 3+2 (downlink and uplink) connections
in both GPRS and HSCD. Before compression it can
therefore receive up to a maximum of 57.6kbps
(downlink) and send up to a maximum of 28.8kbps
(uplink) in HSCSD compared to 53.6kbps receiving
and 26.8kbps sending in GPRS. Since a number of
data compression protocols are supported, the
perceived data speeds can be increased by up to
a further 4 times.

Yes, using any circuit-switched data transfer mode it works in the same manner. There are a number of scenarios where GPRS may be used to carry traffic intended for corporate networks. If end-to-end security is desired the laptop must be equipped with VPN client software and the company must have a VPN Server/Gateway. A VPN solution ensures secure encrypted communication from the laptop into the corporate network.
